Hi, I’m Alaka Skinner. A creative writer.

Get In Touch

I am thrilled to be able to share more about my work with you. My written work for children includes a number of picture books, an early reader series, a middle grade whodunit and an upper middle grade graphic novel. A number of my works are in the form of narrative poetry. Some of the themes in my books are diversity, inclusiveness, empathy, wellbeing and nature. On the adult side, I have written flash fiction pieces and short stories as well! As I build my body of work I look forward to touching people’s hearts and minds, young and old. If you find that the themes and content interest you, feel free to reach out to find out more.

“Are You Listening” featured widely in the media

Featured on the BBC

On July 29th 2020 I was interviewed on a BBC UK radio station about my book ‘Are You Listening?’ The story is in the form of a narrative poem and is suitable for children and adults. The narration of the story was followed by an interview about the book. This was a wonderful opportunity to share a story and topic that I am passionate about with a wider audience.
